A brief history of the Union Pacific Kenosha Subdivision:

12/23/21

This interesting bridge crosses Mound Avenue in Racine.
It is built out of a series of steel stringers, which are offset to accommodate the skew of the road.
It is built onto concrete abutments and steel tower type bents.
This bridge also has interesting features, including concrete repairs and using blocks of wood to support the bridge.
Also near this bridge is the Swing Bridge Crossing the Root River. These bridges were built at the same time.
In addition, another bridge crosses 6th Street directly south of this location.

The author has ranked this bridge as being locally significant, due to the poor condition and common design of this bridge.
